I will attempt to weave them together
Susan Sontag had a relationship with Annie Leibovitz. Annie Leibovitz is a photographer; controversially photographing a semi-nude, young Miley Cyrus, she also photographed polar bear Knut with Leonardo DiCaprio. Like AL, Margaret Bourke-White was a photographer who went to great lengths and was the first woman to be let onto the Soviet war soil. Here she sits precariously atop a gargoyle eagle on the Chrysler building in 1934.
Susan Sontag, Margaret Bourke-White, and Annie Leibovitz. All controversial females in times of turmoil, struggling to make a difference. I'm going to go ahead and be blunt, SS and MBW were bisexual, which I am not quite sure how to take. Whenever men and women try to explain how they desire the same sex...is it underground because we as a society put it there? Or is it truly a sin that we are trying to make into something light? Can it be both?
Whether straight or gay, sexuality is controversial and usually in any relationship someone does something "wrong." Whether divorce, have an affair, kill someone, whatever...there's always something very plainly human about these extraordinary souls.
