BeGotten

So I was reading in the bible this morning as a part of my morning ritual, and I am reading about Tamar (as I said in my previous post) and how she ends up being in the genealogy of Jesus. So I look up the genealogy of Jesus and I find that...hang on a second...Joseph (Jesus' earthly, adoptive father-ish figure) isn't even in his BLOODline. That got me thinking. Did God make Jesus entirely of His own spirit, not using Mary's eggs at all, and just have Mary's womb carry Jesus? Because if THAT is so, then in the end NO ONE is in Jesus' bloodline. This would mean that the whole genealogy thing isn't really...it doesn't really matter! Because Jesus was in MARY's womb, not Joseph's, and unless Joseph and Mary are related, Joseph has basically nothing to do with Jesus except watching Him grow up...now, I'm sure I can be refuted about basically all of my "facts" I found, but still, I was proud of myself for at least thinking outside the box.

Then, kind of bewildered by the word "begotten," I looked up the origins of the word Jesus, as well as begotten. I found that Jesus is just another form of Joshua that also means savior...but OTHER guys were named Jesus in the bible...isn't THAT crazy? That's why we call Him Jesus "Christ" our Lord, or Jesus son of Joseph...(which isn't even really that true!!!).
That brings me to begotten. It helped me to think of begotten like this:
1. BE
2. GET

So BE: like to create, to surround completely, to affect completely or excessively, to consider as or cause to be, to provide cover with, at, for, against, on, or over...

GET: to father, to cause or create, to get by effort, find, acquire, attain, seize, procreate.

BEGET: has a specific note that it is especially of a male parent, to generate offspring, or to cause and produce as an effect. a belief that power begets power.

Of course Begotten only comes in the translation of the word from the Latin, then the Greek...so a lot can be morphed or lost. I love that. It can also be added and discovered and written upon itself.

I just wonder though...what if we have some of these ideas just completely wrong? Or just a slight bit off and different from what He was really really saying. I'm going to allow the mystery to guide me into His arms...going back and studying what I am BEwildered by. :)
